James Dean sketch

This turned out far better that I had expected. From begining to end it went pretty fast (about 3 hrs). I now have prints for sale for this image as well as any other images posted on this page. Just let me know.

Here is a detail view.

Big step from line drawing to final! I like it a lot. What kinda colored pencils did you say you used?
Please don't say prismacolor. Those guys piss me off.

Yeah they are prismacolor. They are the only ones I like. They might cost a fortune but I think they are worth it. I tried a couple other brands and I didn't like them.

What an incredible illustration. Love the color of the paper and the limited palette. The shadows and highlights are perfect and the hair. . .is well it makes you want to touch it!

Hey James,

Your work is fantastic - I especially love the Ray Charles ilustration on your blog - beautiful piece.

Your work reminds me of Drew Struzan's movie posters.

I'll definitely be checking back to see your new stuff.

Cheers,
Jonathan

This is the kind of work that makes you go out and buy a pack of Prismacolors only to spend a whole weekend brreaking them in half realising that it's the talent of the hand that holds them, the passion of the mind that weilds them that makes the work great.

Congratulations. Brilliant!
